Three days later Fossett landed again in Kansas to achieve a new world aviation record that is a significant historical event. The Global Flyer will mostl likely be retired for permanent display in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum with the drag chutes flown around the world and deployed on final approach for landing at Salina, Kansas.

The previous Scaled Composites propeller driven world record Voyager aircraft was retrired to the Air and Space Museum after it's non-stop around the world flight by Dick Rutan and Jeanna Yeager. The landed at 8:06 am on Dec. 23, 1986 at Edwards Air Force Base with only a few gallons of fuel remaining. This 24,986 mile trip took 9 days, 3 min, and 44 sec at an average speed of only 116 mph.

Paratech Parachutes congragulates Steve Fossett on achieving this incredible aviation world record, and is honored by the opportunity to have designed and fabricated the drag chutes for Scaled Composites (Burt Rutan's famous airplane design company), who designed and built the Global Flyer jet for Steve Fossett, funded by Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic airline company.
